Western Canada’s longest running interactive comedy— the wildest, wackiest wedding ever imagined! For three nights a week, THE OTHER SPACE is transformed into VINNIE’S TRATTORIA – the reception hall for Vancouver’s most famous couple. Meet the show’s colourful characters: the feuding Nunzio and Vitale families, the best friends of the bride and groom, the charismatic minister and the brooding ex-boyfriend.Celebrations include dancing, singing, a Vegas-style lounge act and, of course, a scrumptious Italian dinner (cooked from Nona’s secret recipes). Carissa Reiniger 's book, Stories From Our Black Books, has been adapted into a theatrical version with a World Premiere in Vancouver on September 26, 2007 at 9:30 pm.
Vancouver – September 10, 2007 Stories From Our Black Books, first released in 2005, was warmly received and highly praised by media and thousands of women across Canada. Now, the book is back -- but in a new and exciting format. Author, Speaker, and Business Dynamo Carissa Reiniger and Producer William Greenbaum, have teamed up to bring Stories From Our Black Books to life in theatrical form.
Bad first dates, being swept off our feet, learning from mistakes and finding the loves of our lives are all experiences every woman can relate to and are always looking to share . Stories from our Black Books – The Play takes ladies' night out and puts it on stage. Women can laugh, cry, empathize and sympathize with women who have gone through the many trials of looking for Mr. Right in this hilarious and riveting theatrical production. Written and Directed by Barbara Pollard, of Mom's The Word 2 – Unhinged fame, and based on the book by Carissa Reiniger, the production is 90 minutes with one 20 minute intermission.
Stories From Our Black Books – The Play will be touring Western Canada, giving faces and characters to the many trials and triumphs found within the pages of the book. Watch for the show in:
- Vancouver: September 26 – October 7 at The Other Space (QE Theatre Plaza)
- Edmonton: October 10 – October 29 at Catalyst Theater
- Calgary: October 30 – November 10 at The Big Secret Theater.
Using a simple set, audience interaction and a powerful and moving story line told raw and true by talented Canadian actors: Andy Thompson, Denise Jones and newcomer Sara Bynoe, this modern and relevant show will appeal to audiences of all ages and backgrounds. Women especially will relate to content that is talked about every day at the office, on the phone, or over drinks with the ladies. Why not talk about it at the theater?
